Team Activities for Special Kids (TASK) is a not-for-profit instructional sports program that provides opportunities for both individual and team sports to kids with special needs. The purpose of the program is to help build self-esteem and skills in our children. TASK began in the summer of 1996 with a simple tee-ball program. At that time, there were 26 athletes with special physical and/or mental needs participating. Since that time, TASK has developed into a year round sports program offering a variety of sports and has grown to service over 700 athletes.

A staff consisting of dedicated volunteers runs TASK. The volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds including classroom teachers, special education teachers, adaptive physical education teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech/language pathologists, high school students, college students and parents. With a variety of specialties, these volunteers are able to give the athletes a wide range of support to help them become successful in their endeavors.  Right now TASK activities take place at different locations across South and West St. Louis Counties. In the summer of 2004 CBC teamed with TASK to offer a special camp. This camp was everyday for one week. The campers and their buddies participated in dance, drama, art, sports and science.

This summer we are expecting 75 campers. The volunteers will be at CBC from 8:00 until 3:00 Monday through Friday, July 23-27.

Please register to volunteer using the form found above.
