Mass for the Feast of Blessed Br. Scubilion Rousseau
September 27

Entrance Antiphon: Mark. 10:14

"Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these," says the Lord

Prayer:

O Lord, you made Blessed Brother Scubilion Rousseau an exemplary teacher who by his faith and zeal brought hope to the slaves. By his example and intercession, grant that we may learn how to evangelize the poor and lead sinners to be reconciled with you. Through Christ our Lord.

First Reading: Ephesians 3:14-19
For this reason I kneel before the Father,
from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
that he may grant you in accord with the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner self,
and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, rooted and grounded in love,
may have strength to comprehend with all the holy ones what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 19:8-11

Response: Your law, O Lord, is the source of joy.

The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul. The decree of the LORD is trustworthy, giving wisdom to the simple.

The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart. The command of the LORD is clear, enlightening the eye.

The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The statutes of the LORD are true, all of them just;

More desirable than gold, than a hoard of purest gold, Sweeter also than honey or drippings from the comb.

Gospel Acclamation: Luke 11:28

Alleluia. R. Alleluia.

Blessed are they who hear the word of God and observe it lovingly.

R. Alleluia.

Gospel: Matthew 11:25-30

At that time Jesus said in reply,  "I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike.
Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.

All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.

"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your selves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."

Prayer over the Gifts:

Lord, accept the gifts your people bring in memory of Blessed Brother Scubilion Rousseau. May our sharing in this sacrifice help us to express in our lives the power of your love. Through Christ our Lord.

Communion Antiphon: Matthew 18:3

"Unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven," says the Lord.

Prayer after Communion:

All powerful God, may this holy meal help us to follow the example of Blessed Brother Scubilion Rousseau by showing in our thoughts and deeds the light of your truth and the love of our brothers and sisters. Through Christ our Lord.
