The hunter who wanders through these lands sees sights which ever afterward remain fixed in his mind.... Apart from this, yet mingled with it, is the strong attraction of the silent places, of the large tropic moons, and the splendor of the new stars; where the wanderer sees the awful glory of sunrise and sunset in the wide waste spaces of the earth, unworn of man, and changed only by the slow change of the ages through time everlasting.

- President Theodore Roosevelt

As you explore this website, I have two comments. First, I started with information from the commercial websites of the hotels and resorts in Kenya and then supplemented their information with photos that I have obtained while on safari, but for the most part the write-ups are theirs. I did feel free to add editorial comments where appropriate! Secondly, sometimes it is necessary while on safari to deviate from the itinerary or choose another resort. Most travel website have the disclaimer, "or similar" in very small print when talking about the hotels and resorts. If a change is necessary we will find a place just as nice.

Where possible, we will stay in tented camps. You ask: "Tented Camp? Where did that come from?" The idea of “Tented Camping” may conjure up images of pitching a tent at summer camp when you were a kid.  To many people “camping” means roughing it in the wilderness and getting dirty. Well, “Tented Camping” in East Africa is a very different experience. The tents are nothing short of luxury feature polished mahogany wood floors, beds with high thread-count linens and en-suite bathrooms with dual sinks and “waterfall” shower heads. Certainly no roughing it here! The key is the less structure, the more intimate with nature. Some of the places have slightly less luxury than others, but they all have en-suite facilities. ...and great porches!
