Book of Daily Prayer (31-35)

 31. I don’t know where I’m going

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.

32. A family prayer

God made us a family

We need one another

We love one another

We forgive one another

We work together

We play together

We worship together

Together we use God’s word

Together we grow in Christ

Together we love all men

Together we serve our God

Together we hope for heaven

These are our hopes and ideals

Help us to attain the, O God,

Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

33. Giver of life

God, Creative Father, you are the giver of all life. Each of us is a unique creation of your love, yet each of us is very similar. Help us to recognize our likenesses and to realize that all human beings have the same basic needs, hopes and questions. We pray this in Jesus’ name.

34. Holding your hand

Sometimes God puts you with the flowers, sometimes He lets you walk in the sunlight, but often you are in the shadows, and then you walk in deepest night…

But He is there in every valley, even when you do not understand… trust Him because he’s always there…

Guiding… leading… holding your hand.

35. Speak and live your joys

O most loving God, we pray that all your people may speak and live your joy in the world, so clouded by false joys and pleasures. Put songs of praise into our hearts and send us forth rejoicing.
